The City of Bakersfield wants the opportunity to be the next place with an Amazon headquarters.

In September, Amazon released a request for proposals for their second headquarters in North America. The company expects to invest $5 billion in construction and provide up to 50,000 jobs.c Tens of thousands of additional jobs and additional investment will be created in the surrounding community.

Bakersfield proposed that the Amazon headquarters be put here -- highlighting points such as Bakersfield being a dynamic, growing city, an affordable community full of family-oriented people, and a development friendly place with lots of options for building. The proposal was sent by the Community Development Director to Amazon Thursday.
