BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Mothers around the world are celebrated each May. In Bakersfield, one mom says it’s a holiday she’ll always remember as the day she went into labor with a healthy eight-pound baby, Isaac Xavier, at Memorial Hospital.

“He’s my blessing. He’s everything I’ve wanted for years,” said mother, Maribel Padron.

Padron said baby Isaac is her seventh child but her first boy. She added that mothers should be applauded for the sacrifices they make.
