The Bakersfield City School District is considering the expansion of a Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program beginning in the 2018-2019 school year.

This program is intended to develop world language proficiency by starting Spanish language instruction as early as kindergarten. 

The implementation of the program would begin in kindergarten in the first year and would expand each year until fully implemented in elementary and secondary grades.

Additionally, a new group of kindergarten students would begin each year. Approximately 60 students are needed in Kindergarten to support starting the program. The district is committed to programmatic support through 8th grade.
