Around three in the morning on Monday a bear and her cubs were on the hunt for food.
They first stumbled upon a car, which the mother bear broke into and damaged. Then moving on to their next stop, the neighbors home.
Residents say the bear made its way through the dog door and was taking food from the kitchen and giving it to her cubs.
The owner of the home was startled by the noise and when she saw the bear her initial reaction was to scare it away by using a pot to make noise.
A friend of the woman tells 23ABC the bear tried swinging for the pot and hit the woman in the arm in the process.
She was later taken to the hospital and received over a dozen stitches on her arm.
Friends say she is in good spirits and are thankful she is safe.
