Bear Mountain Sports owner Gene Thome passed away on Saturday after reportedly battling health complications. 

In addition to owning the outdoor sports store and being an advocate for gun rights, Thome was also known in Kern County for his musical talents and his support of the Bakersfield Sound.

Friends and family members are expressing their condolences on Thome's Facebook page.

Funeral arrangements are unknown at this time.
