The Bakersfield Police and Fire Department will come together this 4th of July to combat illegal fireworks in the city.

Both departments will form 38 Fireworks Task Force teams July 3rd through the 4th to target anyone violating California Health and Safety Code as well as The City of Bakersfield Municipal Code.

The Task Force will confiscate illegal fireworks and issue citations to anyone violating code. These fireworks include Piccolo Pete, whistling-type, and Ground Bloom-type fireworks.

"Remember: to be legal in California, all fireworks must have the State of California Fire Marshal's seal and the slogan, "Safe & Sane” All others are illegal and will be confiscated and citations and fines issued. This includes Safe & Sane fireworks that have been illegally modified."
