Bakersfield Fire Department is currently investigating what caused a multi-family residential apartment structure fire Thursday night.
Fire crews arrived at Village Lane Apartments, off Stockdale Highway just before 7 p.m. Thursday night. Eight units were affected by the blaze, which displaced 27 people out of their homes.
The Red Cross made arrangements for those who opted not to stay with friends or family overnight.
23ABC went to the property Friday afternoon to find many of those displaced were in the midst of relocating to different units in the same complex.
Damage is estimated at $200,000.
