Traffic is backed up on the northbound lanes of Highway 99 near California Avenue after a big rig carrying carrots crashed with another vehicle, spilling carrots onto the freeway.

Around 7:30, a Chevy Silverado and a big rig crashed on the 99 near California Avenue, according to California Highway Patrol.

The vehicles crashed in the #1 lane and carrots spilled from the big rig onto the #2, 3 and 4 lanes, according to CHP.

No injuries were reported in the collision.

CHP said a third vehicle was involved in the crash, but it is unclear if anybody in that vehicle was injuried.

Caltrans said one lane is open and traffic is reportedly backed up past the California Avenue exit.

It is unknown when the lanes will reopen.
