Gov. Jerry Brown signed a bill authored by Assemblyman Rudy Salas that will expand eye health care access and procedures in the state of California.
Assembly Bill 443 will improve eye health care access that optometrists can offer their patients by allowing them to be able to test patients for diabetes; administer flu, shingles and pneumonia vaccines with additional training and will expand the types of eye diseases optometrists can treat.
"I am glad the Governor signed this important legislation," Salas said. "Improving access to eye care and additional healthcare needs for Californians, especially in rural areas, is a win-win."
