UPDATE:
The body found in a canal Tuesday afternoon has been identified as 27-year-old Jairo Ulices Cordero from Los Angeles, according to a coroner's report.
Cordero's body was found in the area of 4100 Truxtun Avenue near Empire Drive.
A postmortem examination was performed and the cause and manner of death are pending.

According to the Bakersfield Fire Department, a man's body has been discovered in the canal in the 4100 block of Truxtun Avenue near Empire Drive.
Bakersfield police also responded to the scene Tuesday afternoon.
