Body found near Lake Ming on July 4 has been identified as Alejandro Esqueda Garcia

Alejandro Esqueda Garcia, 17, was swimming in the Kern River in the area of Lake Ming on July 1, 2016 when he was observed going under the water while swimming toward the shore line.

Witnesses reported he did not resurface, and efforts to locate him were unsuccessful. On July 4, the victim’s body was located in the river north of Lake Ming and recovered.

After a postmortem examination the cause of death is drowning and the manner of death is accident.
