In honor of National Police Week, established in 1962 by President John F. Kennedy, the first annual Boots & Brew Country Music Festival will take place Wednesday, May 18 from 5-9pm at Temblor Brewing Company.

The concert event, produced by the family of fallen Bakersfield police officer David Nelson, will feature performances by local Southern California musicians American Stone and Doug C and the Blacklisted, among others. The show is free and open to the public.

BPD officer David J. Nelson was killed in the line of duty on June 26, 2015 in a vehicle crash following a high-speed pursuit in NE Bakersfield. In his memory, the Nelson family has partnered with the Kern County 999 Foundation, a non-profit organization assisting the families of Kern County Peace Officers who have died in the line of duty since 2007, to manage and operate a scholarship fund to be offered to graduating high school students of Kern High School District.

All proceeds raised via the Boots & Brew Country Music Festival will go directly to the Officer David Nelson Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Raffle tickets will be sold at the event and include prizes from:
