On Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at about 10:00 a.m., Deputies from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office were conducting a probation compliance check at a residence in the 9300 Blk. of Cripple Creek Ave.
During that search, they located several pieces of stolen mail from victims residing in our jurisdiction. Bakersfield Police Department personnel responded and assumed the investigation.
A further search revealed a manufactured mail box key, a forged check and an illegal weapon.
Officers arrested Jeffrey Carroll (35) for mail theft, possession of a dangerous weapon, and possession of a forged document.
The United States Postal Inspector’s Office was notified and responded to interview Carroll. A bail enhancement of $250,000 was granted by a judge and Carroll remains in custody.
