BPD arrests one person during DUI, driver's license checkpoint

Bakersfield Police arrested one person and cited several others during a DUI and driver's license checkpoint in central Bakersfield on Saturday.

The checkpoint was held on Oak Street in between 18th and 19th Streets between 6 p.m. and 2 a.m.

A total of 1157 cars were screened and two drivers were detained to be further evaluated for their sobriety level.

BPD arrested one person for driving under the influence. Six drivers were cited for driving while unlicensed and eight were found to be driving on a suspended license.
