BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield Police arrested one person in Saturday night's DUI and driver's license checkpoint.
BPD conducted the checkpoint on Saturday on Calloway Drive near Brimhall Road between 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.
BPD says 1,470 vehicles were screened by officers. Five drivers were detained to be further evaluated of their sobriety influence level and one person was arrested for driving under the influence. The driver was also discovered to have been previously convicted of DUI.
Eleven drivers were cited or driving while unlicensed and one motorist was found to be driving on a suspended license.
BPD says the public is encouraged to help keep roadways safe by calling 911 if they see a suspected impaired driver.
