BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield Police Department is hosting an event in hopes of reducing the number of active, non-violent, citable warrants in the city.
According to the department, there is currently a backlog of active misdemeanor warrants. BPD says the event will allow individuals with non-violent citable warrants the opportunity to receive a citation with a new court date.
Individuals who want to participate in this program and do not fit the criteria below will receive a citation with a new court date and will not be booked into jail.
Again, BPD says the following warrants are NOT eligible for a citation:
- Any Felony
- The misdemeanor cited in the warrant involves violence (including domestic violence)
- The misdemeanor cited in the warrant involves a firearm
- The misdemeanor cited in the warrant involves resisting arrest
- The misdemeanor cited in the warrant involves giving false information to officers
- The misdemeanor cited in the warrant involves giving false information to officers
This event will take place on Friday, April 26, between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at Jefferson Park, 801 Bernard Street.
