BPD holds DUI and Driver's License Checkpoint in Southwest Bakersfield

The Bakersfield Police Department held a DUI Checkpoint in Southwest Bakersfield overnight. 

It happened on Ming Avenue between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. 

1459 vehicles were screened by officers. 14 drivers were detained to be further evaluated to determine their sobriety influence level. 

The Bakersfield Police Department Traffic Section made four arrests of drivers for driving under the influence. 28 drivers were cited for no driver's license or driving on a suspended license. 

The public is encouraged to help keep roadways safe by calling 911 if they see a suspected impaired driver.
