BPD investigating fatal shooting in downtown Bakersfield

The Bakersfield Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting in downtown Bakersfield that happened on Saturday night.

A Hispanic male was found suffering from apparent gunshot wounds after officers responded for a report of gunshots near 18th St. and Union Ave. The victim died at the scene.

Police arrested 29-year-old Guillermo Vasquez and 35-year-old Yvette Garcia, both of Bakersfield. Both were booked into the Kern County Jail on charges of murder, conspiracy, participation in a criminal street gang, and related weapons charges.

A possible third suspect is outstanding and wanted for questioning.
