BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — (UPDATE: Sept. 8) The Kern County Coroner's Office identified 67-year-old Ricky Ricardo Tappin as the pedestrian struck and killed on Union Avenue Monday night.

The Bakersfield Police Department is investigating what appears to be a fatal vehicle versus pedestrian crash on Union Ave. between 4th and 6th streets.

Northbound lanes between 4th and 6th are completely blocked, including Southbound lanes south of California.

A vehicle is also almost completely inside of a nearby building.
