A man has been hospitalized with major injuries after he was hit by a car in South Bakersfield on Wednesday morning.

According to Bakersfield Police, a man was walking in "an unmarked crosswalk" in the area of South Chester and La France Drive just before 1 a.m.

Police say he was hit by a car that left the scene.

The man was taken to a hospital with major injuries and is in critical condition.

The only description on the vehicle from BPD is that it's a 2016-2017 Honda Civic.
