Officers with the Bakersfield Police Department were able to convince a man armed with a knife in a canal near Lake and Virginia streets to get out.

Around 9a Monday, officers were sent out to the canal to investigate. When 23ABC News crews arrived on scene, fire personnel and law enforcement were searching through trees and bushes.

The current state of the situation is not yet known.
