Officials with the Bakersfield Police Department said a man was arrested for an attempted murder case on Saturday.

BPD officials said at around 2:25 p.m.,  their dispatchers  received a 911 call which reported that a spousal abuse had taken place at a residence in the 4200 block of Jewetta Avenue.

BPD officers arrived at the scene and discovered that during an earlier argument, the victim had been struck by Joseph Blaine Raddatz.

According to the authorities, the victim lost consciousness and Joseph Raddatz attempted to strangle the victim to death; however, the victim regained consciousness and summoned assistance to the scene by telephone.

Joseph Raddatz fled the scene.

Bakersfield Police Department detectives obtained a probable cause arrest warrant (alleging spousal abuse and attempted homicide) for Joseph Raddatz, and during the course of their investigation learned that he’d fled to the area of Ojai, CA, where Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Raddatz.

Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to call Detective Ken Sporer at (661) 326-3535 or the Bakersfield Police Department at (661) 327-7111.
