BPD arrested a man they say discarded a loaded firearm when officers attempted to make contact.
It happened on October 5 around 9:30 p.m. According to BPD, officers attempted to make contact with two subjects on Quincy St. and Virginia St. in East Bakersfield. One of the subjects discarded a loaded firearm, and both subjects fled on foot. The two were apprehended a short distance away. Officers were also able to recover the firearm and determined that it was unregistered.
22-year-old Emanual Melchor was arrested for several firearm violations and resisting arrest. 25-year-old Reginald Stansberry was arrested for resisting/ obstructing officers.
