Man in critical condition in hit-and-run crash

Bakersfield Police officials say a man is in critical condition after he was involved in a hit-and-run crash near South High School on Friday night.

Authorities say at around 8:06 p.m., they were dispatched to Planz Road and Raider Drive regarding an injury hit and run collision.

When officers arrived to the scene, they located a man suffering from moderate to major injuries.

He was transported to a local hospital and listed in critical condition.

Witnesses told BPD the victim was riding his bicycle eastbound on Planz Road when he was struck by the suspect vehicle.

BPD officials added that the suspect vehicle fled eastbound on Planz Road and was described as a dark blue possible Volkswagen Jetta with a partial California license number 7KH.

It’s unknown if alcohol is a contributing factor in this collision.
