BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A 22-year-old man is facing felony charges of kidnapping and rape after police said he lured a woman into his car when she was walking in downtown Bakersfield Saturday night.
According to Bakersfield Police, the woman was walking downtown after she had left The Padre Hotel when Hernan Uriel Davalos persuaded her to get in his car. Once she was in his car, police said Davalos then drove her to a remote location where he sexually assaulted her.
Officials said following the sexual assault, Davalos then drove the woman to her home.
Bakersfield Police said the victim reported the incident on Sunday morning just before 2 a.m. Police also said the woman was intoxicated when the incident happened.
Davalos was arraigned in court this afternoon where he pleaded not guilty. Also, a protective order was issued for the victim.
His bail is set at $500,000 and is expected back in court on October 22.
