The Bakersfield Police Department is searching for the person who shot a woman in Southwest Bakersfield overnight.

It happened just after 1:00 a.m. in the 6800 block of Natchitoches Way, near White Lane and Ashe Road. 

When officers arrived on scene, they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to the hospital with moderate injuries, and is expected to recover. 

Officers have no suspect information at this time.
