Bakersfield Police Department has opened enrollment for the upcoming Police Academy. 

Despite all the recent officer involved shootings including Lancaster and Palm Springs, BPD Training Officer, Ryan McWilliams said he isn't worried about how that may discourage new recruits. 

"I think people that support law enforcement and really want to be a police officers and a career in law enforcement aren't going to let those things effect them," said McWilliams.
