Investigators say that around 11:30 this morning, a Bakersfield Police Department patrol car was involved in a traffic accident with another car.

Authorities say that the patrol car was heading toward an emergency call going east on Wible and his sirens and lights were on. At the same time another car entered the intersection but was headed in a northern direction. This is the point it is believed that the crash happened.

Because of the crash, two other cars were hit but the people inside declined medical treatment and were able to walk away.

The BPD officer was transported to the hospital with moderate injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was also reported to have moderate injuries but was sent to a different hospital.

A spokesperson for the Bakersfield Police Department says that they will be investigating this traffic accident and will be looking at the security cameras on the stop lights at this intersection.

At this moment they do not know who is at fault.
