A Bakersfield Police Department patrol car was stolen during a pursuit Friday night.
According to BPD, the incident started near Hillburn and Sterling roads at about 10:30 p.m., when officers attempted to stop a vehicle that ran a red light.
After a short pursuit, the suspect collided into a parked car a short distance away. He would get out of the vehicle and begin running from police.
The suspect "circled back around," entered a BPD patrol car and drove away in it.
A short time later, officers found the patrol car along Haley and Quincy streets, without the suspect inside. No weapons were taken from the vehicle, according to BPD.
The suspect is still outstanding.
