BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Bakersfield Police have released safety tips amid forecasted rain in the area.
Below is a list of tips the department said will help keep drivers safe on the roads and decrease chances of roadway accidents.
- Slow down! Reducing your speed will lessen the chances of hydroplaning which can occur in only a quarter of an inch of water.
- Use your headlights. Utilizing your headlights increases your visibility to other drivers on the roadway. The California Vehicle Code requires drivers to use their headlights during inclement weather.
- Pay attention! Electronic devices and cellular telephones should never be used while driving, but when driving in rainy weather your attention to your surroundings is your best defense against a hazard or collision.
