Bakersfield Police say they've seen a trend in the theft of pick-up truck tailgates in 2018.

BPD says 75% of the reported tailgates stolen in 2018 were taken from northwest Bakersfield.

They say the majority of offenses happen on weekend nights and the makes most often targeted are GMC, Ford, Toyota, Dodge and Chevrolet. 

Robert and Becky Singenstrew said their white Chevrolet's tailgate was stolen Saturday night from their driveway. Surveillance video shows that it only took them a few minutes to make off with the tailgate.
