The Kern County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that left one man wounded in southeast Bakersfield Friday night.
KCSO Metro Patrol deputies were dispatched to the area of Cottonwood Road and East Pacheco Road for a victim of a shooting just before 11 p.m.
When they arrived, they located the victim, 30-year-old Anthony Chaver, inside of a car parked east of the intersection.
Chaver suffered an injury to the back of his neck that was believed to have caused by a gunshot.
He was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive his injury.
Authorities said Chaver was attending a large party in the field east of Cottonwood Road when he was shot.
A firearm was located at the scene.
There is no suspect information at this time. The incident is still under investigation.
