BPD Sergeant Dennis Moore passes away after medical event

The Bakersfield Police Department sent out a statement after the passing of Sergeant Dennis Moore.

"Today the Bakersfield Police Department mourns the passing of our friend and colleague Sergeant Dennis Moore. Dennis previously served as a police officer with the Arvin Police Department and joined the Bakersfield Police Department in 1997. He served our department and this community with honor, dignity and integrity. 

As a police officer and sergeant, Dennis loved this department, this community and police work, but more than anything else, Dennis loved his family. 

Our prayers are with his family, friends and all who loved him."

A member of the Bakersfield Police Department passed away Wednesday morning. 

According to BPD, 47-year-old Sergeant Dennis Moore suffered a major medical event at home while getting ready for work.

He was given emergency medical treatment and taken to a local hospital where died at 10:44 a.m. Wednesday.

Moore worked for BPD since 1997 and previously worked at the Arvin Police Department. 

He leaves behind a wife and three children.
