BPD: Victim dies three days after man struck him in the head with a tree branch

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A man has died after he was fatally struck in the head with a tree branch earlier this week.

Bakersfield Police Department said, on Monday morning, they were called to the area of 600 East California Avenue regarding an assault. When cops arrived to the scene they found a man suffering from a head injury. An investigation uncovered that the victim had been hit in the head with a tree branch by 35-year-old Jesus Reyes.

Three days later the victim, who has not been identified, died from his injuries.

Reyes was arrested and been booked into the Kern County Jail and faces additional murder charges.
