BPD: Suspect's shotgun discharged during foot chase

The Bakersfield Police Department is searching for a man involved in a foot chase where a shotgun was discharged. 

According to BPD, officers were involved in a foot chase around 1:15 a.m. Thursday in the area of Robinson and Monterey streets. 

Police say during the chase, one of the suspects, identified as Jordy Luna, tossed a shotgun. When the shotgun hit the ground, it discharged, firing at least one round. 

Police say no one was hit by the gunfire. 

According to BPD, officers did not fire their guns. 

Luna was taken into custody and faces gun and gang charges.

A second suspect remains on the loose. He's described as 5-foot-5, Hispanic, in his 20s with a thin build. 

It's not known what led to the chase.
