The Bakersfield Police Department blocked off the corner of 8th and Q Streets Saturday night to investigate a deadly shooting.

Officials on scene said they responded to shots fired around 10:42 p.m. in the 800 block of 8th Street.

Officers found one man suffering from gunshot wounds at the scene. The man was transported to a local hospital, where he later died. 

Friends have identified the victim as Chris Ali, the father of four young children. 

Two people were arrested in connection to this shooting, 24-year-old Wendell Scott and 30-year-old Robert Montelongo. Both suspects were arrested for murder, conspiracy, gang participation and weapons charges and have been booked into the Kern County Jail.
