BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield Police Department and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration are scheduled to host another opportunity for the community to dump their expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.

The free and anonymous event, which is set for Saturday, October 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. is expected to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding people's homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs, according to officials.

You can bring your pills to the disposal sites listed below:

  • 1601 Truxtun Ave- Lobby of Police Department
  • 3501 Stockdale Hwy- Parking lot adjacent to Kaiser Permanente
  • 5075 Gosford Road- Parking lot adjacent to Walmart

BPD said these sites will not accept liquids or sharp needles, only pills or patches.
