Over the past several months, the BPD has identified a series of “purse snatch” robberies in Southwest Bakersfield.

The robberies appear to be related and happened in parking lots near Gosford Road between Stockdale Highway and White Lane.

The victims have been females leaving their vehicles alone. The suspect forcibly takes the purses.

The suspect is described as a back male in his 20s or 30s and approximately 6 feet tall with a thin to athletic build.

The Kern High School District released the following statement:

"He was hired as a KHSD substitute teacher on March 3, 2017. The Kern High School District was the reporting party in this incident. The substitute teacher, Mr. Chung, was immediately released from the KHSD sub list. He has not worked at the KHSD since the reported incident. The KHSD also notified the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing."
