The Bakersfield Police Department arrested a suspect in connection to a stabbing that left a woman dead and another man injured. According to BPD, the stabbings took place overnight in the area of Pacific Street.

In a statement, the BPD said "officers located two stabbing victims in the roadway. An adult female victim suffered major injuries. She was transported to the hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. The additional victim, an adult male, was treated for minor injuries."

A suspect, 46-year-old Leonard Herring Jr. was identified and an arrest warrant was issued. He was eventually located and arrested in the area of Flower and Haley streets at 10:40 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The identity of the woman who died has not been released.
