UPDATE (May 7, 6:28 a.m.): Bakersfield Police said around 2:12 a.m. offiers responded to a report of shots fired in the 500 block of Union Avenue near 4th St. Officers found an adult man who was suffering from a gunshot wound near 8th St. and V St. 

The man was transported to an area hospital with moderate injuries.

Around 5:45 a.m. the victim was in surgery.

BPD said there is no suspect information at this time. 

The motive for the shooting is yet to be determined. The investigation is ongoing.

The Bakersfield Police Department is investigation a shooting on 8th Street. 

BPD says a man was shot just before 2:15 a.m. at 331 8th Street, across from Victor Street. Officers located shell casings in the roadway. BPD says the man suffered minor to moderate injuries. 

No suspects have been arrested. The investigation is ongoing.
