The Kern County District Attorney's office has confirmed that 53-year-old Richard Kollin was shot by Tehachapi police officers Wednesday night outside of the Holiday Inn Express.

In a statement released last week, Tehachapi Police Department says officers responded to a call for a suspicious person in a vehicle. After speaking with Kollin, police say he ran from his vehicle into an open field. Police say they then shot Kollin, who was transported to Kern Medical with two gunshot wounds.
