Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Local events happening around the county to help raise awareness

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, which is every October, several organizations are hosting events to raise awareness and educate the community.

Below is a list of local events including everything from health clinics, free screenings, whiskey tasting and more!

October 3rd - 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. EMPOWHER
Mercy Hospital Southwest- Friends of Mercy Walking Path- at 551 Shanley Ct.
Women are invited to attend the free event with their moms, friends, and co-workers to mingle, shop from numerous vendors, hear valuable information from physicians covering: breast health, women's health, orthopedics, and OBGYN as well as the opportunity to win several amazing raffle prizes- just for attending.

October 5th - 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. LACE'N IT UP 5K FUN RUN
The Park at River Walk
Links for Life is hosting a fun run 5K and celebration walk for survivors of breast cancer and to remember those who lost their battle to breast cancer. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m., 5K starts at 8:30 a.m, celebration walk starts at 9 a.m.

October 7th - 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. PANINI AND KABOBS
3111 Ming Avenue
Links for Life is hosting a fundraiser lunch at Panini and Kabob Grill.

October 8th - 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. - SLICE OF HOPE
Rusty's Pizza Parlors
Links for Life has partnered with Rusty's Pizza Parlor to help raise money for Links for Life and Paint the Town Pink.

October 8th - 6:30 p.m. MEN'S STRONG LINKS HANGOUT
4140 Truxtun Avenue
Links for Life is hosting a men's support group and hang out event at Imbibe Wine and Spirits to allow them to escape the day-to-day stresses of helping loved ones fight breast cancer.

October 15th - 6:30 p.m. GRUPO DE ESPERANZA
5301 Office Park Drive, Suite 370
Links for Life hosts a monthly support group for Spanish speaking survivors

October 17th - 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. ROSE AND WHISKEY TASTING
4140 Truxtun Avenue
Celebrate Paint the Town Pink month with a Rosé and Whiskey Tasting at Imbibe Wine and Spirits. Buy any bottle of Rosé wine or Whiskey and Imbibe will make a donation back to Links for Life for each bottled purchased.

October 17th - 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. VIPINK: THE BREAST EVENT OF THE YEAR

October 18th - 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. BINATIONAL HEALTH WEEK
Kern County Fairgrounds
Join Links for Life at the Kern County Fairground for Binational Health Week.

October 19th - 11:30 a.m. LINKS LUNCH AT TOO FATS
721 18th Street
Join the Links Ladies for their monthly lunch at Too Fat Sandwiches.

October 24th 5 p.m.- 7 p.m. - FREE BREAST SCREENING
Adventist Health is hosting the free event at their central Bakersfield.

October 29th - 6:00 p.m. to 9 p.m. ALL ABOUT PINK!

Paint, munch and mingle for a great cause! Includes painting (up to $20 item, upgrades welcome), Fundraising with raffle and silent auction. Light appetizers and sweets.
