BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Kern County fire crews battled a blaze burning over 100 acres just east of Bakersfield Saturday.
The fire starting small, only 1 acre of grass, in the area of Comanche Drive and Breckenridge Road around 2 p.m. However due to strong winds, the fire quickly spread to 117 acres.
Crews were able to stop the spread of the vegetation fire with no structures threatened or injuries reported. Firefighters stayed overnight to complete containment and mop up.
