The California City Police Department responded to a reported stabbing at 10:20 p.m. Saturday night on Proctor Boulevard.
When officers arrived, both the suspect and witness had left the scene.
Officers located a 21 year-old Cal City man a short distance away on Lakeshore Drive.
Witnesses in the area were able to give police a description of the suspect. Officers spotted the suspect on Randsburg-Mojave Road and took him into custody.
The suspect was identified as 42 year-old Grant Demond Dysart, also of Cal City.
Witnesses told Police that some type of argument occurred near a home on Proctor Boulevard when the stabbing took place.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Dysart was booked into Kern County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon and an unrelated drug warrant.
A knife that is believed to have been used in the crime was located at the scene and seized by police.
