The California City Police Department is on scene at a home where a reported bomb was found.

California City Police issued an alert at 6 p.m. Wednesday, saying the explosive device was found about a mile from the California City Prison. Officials have closed off 20 Mule Team Parkway at the prison's main entrance. 

According to Cal City Police, the device "was reported to be a large home made explosive."

Police say because of the remote location, no evacuations have been ordered.
