Today a Healhty Kids Carnival is happening at Cal State University, Bakersfield.
The event is being held to promote healthy lifestyles while having fun, it's being put on in partnership with IKEA and other community organizations
"We are excited that families from across Kern County will be joining us on campus for the Healthy Kids Carnival, to have fun while learning about healthier lifestyle choices," said CSUB Children's Center Director, Gladys Garcia-Jara.
During the event, attendees will be able to complete an inflated obstacle course, fish for healthy snacks, get their faces painted, plant their own veggies, and concoct their own MyPlate, while learning about portion control.
There also will be a farmer's market, where the kids can buy fruits and veggies with pretend money. Various teams of law enforcement also will be in attendance, including the SWAT team, and the Bakersfield Fire Department (BFD) will bring their fire truck for guests to see.
This event is free and open to the public. It will be taking place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the CSUB Children's Center. Parking is available in Lot E.
