California City Police officers were able to locate a stolen vehicle and arrested the two people inside of it on December 10, 2017 around 7:00 p.m. by utilizing their on-board Lojack Systems.
The 2007 Cadillac had been stolen out of Temecula.
Officers tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled and led police on a short pursuit.
At the end of the pursuit the driver got out of the vehicle, and ran into a neighborhood, however, a K9 unit was able to help capture the suspect.
40-year-old Chrystal Vitolla was the passenger in the vehicle and was detained by police on scene.
28-year-old Ervin Morelli, the driver of the vehicle, was found hiding underneath of a home in the neighborhood he had run into.
After searching the vehicle, police found approximately one ounce of methamphetamine as well as a police scanner.
Morelli, who is on federal probation was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, transporting a controlled substance, and multiple felony warrants. Morelli is currently being held at Kern County Jail and his bail has been set at $187,500.
Vitolla was arrested for multiple warrants including taking a vehicle without owner's consent, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Vitolla is also being held at Kern County Jail and her bail has been set at $30,000.
