After nearly 30 years with the department, California City Police Chief Eric Hurtado has announced that he is retiring.
Hurtado confirmed with 23ABC that Wednesday was his last day with the department. He served eight and a half years as police chief, the longest tenure ever for a Cal City police chief.
Hurtado said he is now planning on spending more time with his family.
Sgt. Tim O'Quinn will serve as interim police chief.
23ABC reached out to the city manager's office for comment, but has not heard back.
