The California Democratic Party is no longer accepting donations from oil companies.

 

This comes at a time where Democrats in the state legislature are celebrating the passage of major climate legislation. There is also some uncertainty about the way President-elect Trump's energy policies could impact California's recent steps to reduce its fossil fuel consumption.

 

Perhaps the California Democratic Party is bracing itself for an administration that could be looking to bolster the nation's economy in part through oil production.

 

The president of the Democratic Party's Environmental Caucus has said he feels oil companies have "too much influence in Sacramento."
