California Highway Patrol officials are investigating a crash leaving one person with major injuries Thursday morning. 

Around 5:30 this morning, CHP says 34-year-old Octavio Zacarias and 41-year-old Rosa Avila crashed into each other in the intersection of Wheeler Ridge Road at Valpredo Avenue. 

Officials say Avila and passenger 45-year-old Norma Lopez were taken to Kern Medical Center for injuries. Avila sustained minor injuries while Lopez is being treated for major injuries. It's unknown if she was wearing a seatbelt.

The crash is under investigation.
